- NEW EVENT: May 15th, 2011 (Sunday) SCUBA DIVER MOCK RESCUE Exercise at Two Jack Lake, Banff - host & sponsor: Aqua Sport Scuba (Calgary) with participation welcome of teams from dive stores, clubs, instructors, divemasters & all rescue divers from across the province! Many more details & info to come! Experienced open water & advanced divers will be wanted to volunteer as mock victims.
- May 21, 22, 2011: 49th ANNUAL JASPER AQUATHON with the famous Athabasca River Race, Lake Cleanup & Dive Event Competition on May Long Weekend, Jasper. This full weekend of fun events for Alberta scuba divers also includes lots of "eats" with a BBQ lunch on Saturday, Pancake Breakfast at Wapiti Campground on Sunday and at BYOM (bring your own meat) BBQ at the Jasper Aquathon event's Awards & Presentations at Wapiti Campground Sunday night. Participants can camp (preferrably in Wapit Campground, Section RR) or at other Jasper accommodations of your choice.
- June 5th: New Event: Lake Sundance UW Cleanup (Calgary) - limited number of volunteers needed, RSVP early to host & sponsor: Aqua Sport Scuba in Calgary
- June 18th (Saturday): Twin Lakes Treasure Hunt Dive Event & Lake Cleanup Hosted by: Wing Diver Club at Twin Lakes Training Facility near Winfield. Variety of underwater events are set-up to challenge scuba divers in their underwater skills in navigation, buoyancy control, etc. Supported by local Edmonton area dive centre sponsors. - July 1st: World Series U/W Poker World Championship @ Twin Lakes - Host & Sponsor: The Dive Outfitters (Edmonton). This fun Underwater World Poker Championship w/playoffs challenges players (scuba divers) to find the Poker cards underwater at Twin Lakes & the best hand wins! - July 17th (Sunday): Bow River Snorkel Event—snorkel down the often fast moving & sparkling Bow River & enjoy this unique view of downtown Calgary from the beautiful waters of the Bow. Hosted by local Calgary divers/paddlers, the AUC & local dive centre sponsors.
- July 30/31: New Event: Extreme Team - Dive Weekend in Banff: Host & Sponsor: Caribbean Dreams (Calgary), more info & details yet to come!
- Aug 6/7th: New Event: Diver Enhancement Weekend in Banff: Host & Sponsor: Aqua Sport Scuba, more info to come!
- AUG 6/7th: New Event: Jasper Poker Dive Weekend: Host & Sponsor: Sub Sea Experience (Edmonton), participate & dive 3 lakes in Jasper & find your best poker hand, includes BBQ, more info details to come!
- Aug 13th (Saturday): Cold Lake U/W Rodeo & Cleanup —hosted by Wet & Wild Diving Club of Fort McMurray, this annual event includes an underwater scavenger hunt, underwater checkers, spear-gun target shoot, etc! See here for the 2010 Cold Lake Underwater Rodeo and Lake Cleanup Past Event Report.
- Aug 27th (Saturday): Waterton Bear Grass & Lake Clean-up Dive—host & sponsor: Anderson Aquatics (Lethbridge), please RSVP to the event host. This event has enjoyed a history of over 25 years, see here for the 2010 Waterton Bear Grass/Lake Cleanup Past Event Report!
- Sept 11th (Sunday): Banff Lake Clean-up—Host: AUC & local sponsors. Location: Lake Minniwanka's Cliff's Dive Site again & with good attendance and boat support - we'll try to extend the cleanup to the boat launch & marina area again. - Sept 24th (Sunday): Sylvan Lake U/W Clean-up—Hosted by AUC, Sponsor Northwest Scuba of Edmonton & local dive community. Also supported by Town of Sylvan Lake with local businesses like Tim Horton's and including the local Boy Scouts & Guides (kids, leaders & parents) on shore-line clean-up detail See here for 2010 Sylvan Lake Past Event Report!
- Oct 1st (Saturday): Wainwright Pumpkin Dive & Lake Clean-up — Host & Sponsor: Alberta Adventure Divers (formerly Davco Diving) & the last official AUC dive event of 2011. See here for 2010 Pumpkin Dive Past Event Report.
- NOV 30th (Wednesday), 6 PM: GRAND PRIZE DRAW for BonaireDiveVilla.com - Condo Accommodations for one week in Bonaire at THE DIVE OUTFITTERS (Edmonton), at their first Dinner/Video night of the winter.
